Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile to feature Confederate Memorial Day celebration

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Raphael Semmes Camp 11 of Sons of Confederate Veterans has set its annual Confederate Memorial Day Observance for this week, according to Memorials Chairman A.J. DuPree.

According to a Sons of Confederate Veterans news release, the chapter will hold its annual celebration Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Confederate Rest in Magnolia Cemetery, located at the intersection of Virginia and Ann Streets in Mobile.

The free event is open to the public and will feature an homage to Lt. Col. James M. Williams, CSA, of the 21st Alabama Infantry Volunteers, which was largely comprised by young Mobilians. Williams commanded Fort Powell in Mobile Bay.
