Foxtail Coffee Co. is zeroing in on South St. Petersburg, with plans for a new cafe in the Skyway Marina District’s Sky Town retail strip, adding yet another caffeine stop to a corridor that is quickly filling in. The shop is set for a new outparcel across from the recently opened Sprouts Farmers Market, part of a broader wave of development reshaping the city’s south side. No opening date is on the books yet, as interior buildout is expected to kick off in the coming months.
According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Foxtail is slated to take about 4,500 square feet of retail space at Sky Town, folding the cafe into the company’s larger push into the Tampa Bay market. The outlet reports the brand is in expansion mode across Florida and into other states as it builds out its footprint.
Launched in Winter Park in 2016, Foxtail has since grown into a regional chain with locations in multiple states, per Foxtail Coffee. The company already runs a downtown St. Petersburg cafe at 730 4th Street N, and it has also announced a first Tampa location at Casa Marti in Ybor City, scheduled to open May 1, according to TBBW Magazine.

The retail building itself broke ground in 2025 as part of Altis Cardinal’s redevelopment of the former Ceridian campus, a project that has been steadily transforming the area from office park to mixed-use hub.
Sky Town’s Growth Spurt
