Blue Shield in hot seat after San Francisco firefighter’s cancer care denied

San Francisco Supervisors have called for a government hearing on Wednesday to understand how often the city’s more than 40,000 employees and retirees, including firefighters, have had their medical claims denied by city-funded insurance providers.

“Here we are learning the fact that, in the most critical time, their care is being denied,”
