Theft of West Tennessee farm equipment theft with 8-year sentence

A stolen equipment case out of West Tennessee has ended with the recovery of tens of thousands of dollars in farm machinery and an eight-year prison sentence for a suspect.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture says Darrell Hillis has been sentenced to eight years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to felony theft.

Officials say the case involves about $60,000 worth of stolen farm equipment taken from a Jackson-area farm last year, including a John Deere tractor and a bale wrapper. Investigators say one of the stolen items was tracked more than 700 miles away to Georgia, where it was found at an auction company after the farm owner spotted it on social media…
