Out at Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, just outside Socorro, this lone beaver has been quietly living- and building- since it was first spotted on a trail camera in 2019.
And while hardly anyone has seen it in person, that hasn’t stopped the hype.

Visitors swap name ideas like Bernie and Justin Beaver, and go searching for signs of its work. Because even if you don’t see it, you’ll see some of its handy work: dams, dens, and chewed-up trees all over the area.
