Murder suspect arrested after shooting tied to car swap turns deadly near Houston

ALVIN, Texas — What started as a car trade turned deadly in Alvin last week.

Police said 18-year-old Emad Siddiqui of Sugar Land was shot and killed during a dispute with 23-year-old Eric Olvera, the man who was supposed to swap vehicles with him.

Investigators believe the argument unfolded outside a convenience store along S.H. 35 around 10:30 p.m. on April 2. A friend driving Siddiqui called 911 moments later, saying his passenger had been shot. Officers found their car parked about a mile north of the store, with Siddiqui in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead…
