BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Delano police officer was recognized with a Life Saving Award at the Delano City Council meeting Monday for saving a man’s life by initiating CPR.
On Sept. 22, 2025, Officer Julio Galvan responded to a report of a medical emergency at Vallarta Supermarkets at 820 Main St., according to Delano Chief of Police Jerry Nicholson.

There, he saw a man who was unresponsive, didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t breathing.
