Police arrest man charged with vehicular homicide, OVI for New Year’s Eve crash

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police have arrested the man accused of fatally hitting bicyclist Timothy Haase, a beloved cook at Dino’s Family Restaurant, with a vehicle on New Year’s Eve in Point Place.

Marcus Deamicis, 73, was arrested at noon Tuesday by Toledo police, according to Lucas County jail records. In February, a grand jury indicted him on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to stop after an accident.

As of Tuesday night, Deamicis’ first appearance in Lucas County Common Pleas court has not been set…
