Three charged in felony fraud, theft scheme

ALBANY COUNTY, NY (WRGB) β€” Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr., reports the arrest of a Rensselaer County man on felony larceny related charges, and two more men for helping him to do it.

On April 6, Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Vincent M. Gallo, 65, in connection with an ongoing investigation into fraud, theft and misuse of confidential business information. Gallo is accused of maintaining an undisclosed arrangement with a third-party vendor to improperly divert a portion of a rewards program rightfully owed to his former employer, a local HVAC company, for his own personal benefit. This arrangement operated without the knowledge or authorization of Gallo’s former employer, resulting in significant financial losses which came to light during a routine internal audit. Further investigation uncovered that Gallo was also engaging in a separate but related scheme involving the unauthorized distribution of confidential bid proposals. Gallo sold the bid proposals to competing companies in exchange for financial compensation, undermining the integrity of the competitive bidding process and causing additional harm to his former employer.

Gallo was charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree (a class C felony), one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (a class D felony), one count of Commercial Bribe Receiving in the First Degree (a class E felony), one count of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree (a class E felony), one count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree (a class E felony) and one count of Scheme to Defraud in the Second Degree (a class A misdemeanor)…
