‘Buyer responsible for removal’ | DC auctioning off 6 streetcars

WASHINGTON — Ever dreamed of owning a streetcar? Well, we have some good news for you. The DC Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) announced Thursday that six streetcars will be available for purchase through an online auction.

The auction will be hosted by DC Surplus. In order to bid, users will need to create a GovDeals account and search “DC Streetcar.” The available streetcars include:

  • Three (3) 100 Series streetcars (manufactured by Inekon in 2007)
  • Three (3) 200 Series streetcars (manufactured by United Streetcar in 2013)

The streetcars will be sold “as is,” but OCP says inspections may be available.

Worried about buying sight unseen? The Community Streetcar Coalition will be hosting an Industry Day on April 15, giving all interested buyers a chance to view the streetcar in person. Additionally, those who attend the event will get insight prior to bidding. Those who want to attend will need to RSVP…
