SC State, Clemson team up to give $70 million to local farmers

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) – South Carolina State University and Clemson University — South Carolina’s two land-grant institutions — are leading a statewide effort to expand market access and strengthen on-farm outcomes for producers in South Carolina.

The program, called Advancing Markets for Producers, is designed to put cash directly into the hands of local farmers to help them grow their businesses while also caring for their land.

The $70 million initiative, supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, builds on prior Partnerships for Climate-Smart investments and has been reinstated with enhancements to increase direct funding and support for farmers across the state…
