INDIANA — Indiana State Prison issued a notice Thursday afternoon regarding repeated incidents of inmates tampering with electrical outlets. The prison will remove inmates’ personal electrical access in Indiana State Prison’s restricted housing unit.
Prison officials say the primary concern is the safety of staff and those in custody, noting that reducing fire hazards is critical. While power to individual cells will be disabled, officials say conditions in D Cell House will otherwise remain largely unchanged. The housing unit’s main lights, ventilation system and all wall-mounted commercial fans will remain fully operational.
