MADISON, Ala. — Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols announced Thursday that he will retire from the position he has held since 2020, bringing to a close a distinguished career in Alabama public education spanning four decades.
Nichols informed administrators and staff of his decision Thursday afternoon before formally announcing his retirement at the Board of Education meeting that evening.
