Cicero declares state of emergency, bans non-essential traffic on Beach Road amid flooding

CICERO, N.Y. — The Town of Cicero has declared a local state of emergency that bans all non-essential traffic on Beach Road, due to the continued flooding and high water levels from Oneida Lake, until Monday April 13.

Residents who live along Beach Road and emergency vehicles are exempt from the order. According to the town, the Cicero Police Department will patrol Beach Road throughout the mandate and issue tickets to anyone who violates the order.

The order comes as the Town Supervisor, Rob Santucci, asked all drivers earlier this week to watch their speed in the flood zone due to wakes that form and erode local properties. This order hopes to minimize any further damage…
