OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — The St. Landry Parish Council has approved a tax deal with Walmart for a $330 million expansion to its distribution facility in Opelousas. The agreement finalizes plans for the retail giant’s major investment in the parish.
The deal ensures the retention of more than 1,100 jobs at the distribution center. Walmart opened the facility in 2000 with 600 employees, and that number has nearly doubled over the past 25 years.
