Kansas school resource officer’s gun accidentally fires, police say

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An investigation is underway into how a Kansas school resource officer’s handgun accidentally went off.

The Dodge City Police Department said it happened Thursday at Comanche Middle School.

The department said the rangemaster — who oversees the department’s equipment, firearms training and shooting range — was inspecting the officer’s gun when it accidentally fired. The bullet struck a wall. No was hurt in the incident.
