Another round of storms is expected along a stationary front in northern and western Kansas.
A Slight Risk surrounds I-70 over a good chunk of northern Kansas for strong to severe storms with a Marginal Risk stretching over the west.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued from Southwest into Northcentral Kansas through 11 PM Thursday.
There will be a higher concentration of scattered storms from Northcentral into Northeast Kansas. Development back to the west will be more isolated.
Damaging winds and large hail are primary, although there is a low tornado threat over the Slight Risk area.
What happens overnight will weaken and track to the south as the cold front repositions closer to the Kansas/Oklahoma state line.
Depending on where this resides will determine the next round of strong to severe storms for Friday evening.
There is a Marginal Risk outlined for southern Kansas into northern Oklahoma for hail and high winds.
Unsettled weather does not end once the weekend begins. A shower and storm will be here and there on Saturday.
There is another Marginal Risk to account for any isolated damaging winds and large hail. There will be a higher severe storm threat to the southwest over western Texas.
Sunday through next Tuesday, additional opportunities for storms will favor central and eastern Kansas.
There will be more moisture, instability and dynamics for all modes of severe weather, including tornadoes. Southcentral Kansas and northern Oklahoma are in line for a severe threat Sunday.
The risk Monday keeps Wichita in the mix. Monday will be central and eastern Kansas.
Tuesday’s risk will expand west to bring more of central Kansas back into play.
Highest rainfall potential overall will remain over the east compared to the west. We will get a break next Wednesday and then back to another chance for rain and storms by week’s end.
