COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – On Wednesday, Colorado Springs Local 5 Firefighters posted an update that Colorado Springs Fire Department’s only hazardous materials apparatus (Hazmat 14) was out of service and unable to respond to hazardous material incidents.
According to Local 5, Hazmat 14 was recently out of service for multiple months because of “severe structural damage.” At the time, CSFD borrowed a hazmat unit from El Paso County.
Routine checks earlier this week found additional critical damage, with Local 5 writing on social media that there is “no backup. No reserve. No funding to replace it.”…
