Horse stolen from Enumclaw ranch, reopening family’s grief after recent death of adoring owner

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — An Enumclaw family already mourning the loss of their daughter is facing a new heartbreak after her beloved horse was stolen from their barn early Thursday morning.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the theft, which family members say has reopened fresh wounds following the death of 42-year-old Stephanie (Hodge) Burns in November after a battle with breast cancer.

The early morning theft happened in a secluded barn, far from public roadways, where Stephanie spent much of her time caring for her horses. Family members say the only witnesses to the crime were animals in the barn, but they have security camera footage showing a large truck towing a horse trailer…
