BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Days after the Bedford County School Board filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit regarding the Stewartsville Elementary closure vote, 9th District Congressional candidate, Bedford County mom, and plaintiff Joy Powers filed a rebuttal asking for the lawsuit to be heard.
Powers filed the lawsuit last month after the school board voted on March 12 to close Stewartsville Elementary School. The Goodview Elementary mom alleges that the Bedford County School Board did not follow Virginia State Code 22.1-79(8), which says the following:
