ROCKFORD — A newly reached labor deal between union teachers and Rockford Public Schools is already in dispute over language on classroom size, leading to grievances and an unfair labor practices charge.
The Rockford Education Association says that the district is using a different standard for the maximum number of pupils per teacher for bilingual classrooms and for general classes, affecting teacher-student ratios and overage pay that compensates teachers when class size exceeds the maximum.
