Fire crews contain wind-driven house fire in Magna

MAGNA, Utah (ABC4) — Crews responded to a first alarm house fire in Magna and were able to get the fire under control relatively quickly, despite some initial confusion over the location and difficulty caused by wind.

According to Battalion Chief Tyler Lintz with Unified Fire Authority, crews received reports of a house fire near 8400 West Bosnall Bay in Magna from multiple callers, with two different addresses reported, so they had a bit of difficulty finding the location of the fire.

When they arrived, there was smoke and fire showing from the back of the home. Lintz called this a “wind-driven event,” and that caused some difficulty in getting the fire under control in a normal timeframe. However, crews were able to get the fire under control within 20 to 25 minutes, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

“We arrived initially at the wrong address, and we had to coordinate units between Unified and West Valley on the correct address, so there was a bit delayed response, but as soon as crews all got here, they were put to work quickly and efficiently,” Lintz said.
