Police arrest suspect in armed robberies at Eugene deli

EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man was arrested for robbing the same deli twice after detectives connected him to both crimes, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that patrol officers and detectives responded to an armed robbery at Sandy’s Deli on Barger Drive on March 15 at 8:50 a.m. A man used a gun to rob the deli of cash. Officers searched the area with K9s from EPD and Lane County Sheriff’s Office but didn’t find the suspect right away. A detective took over the case and identified the suspect as 43-year-old Solomon Everisto Lehi. The detective also connected Lehi to another robbery at the same deli in December 2025.

Eugene Police investigators and EPD SWAT created a plan to arrest Lehi as he left his job on West 11th Avenue. On April 9 at around 11:15 p.m., SWAT moved in as Lehi left work. Lehi tried to run but was caught and safely taken into custody…
