SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A vehicle left the roadway on Friday near the intersection of East River Road and North Canal Road in Spokane County, plunging 200 feet down an embankment and into a river, according to a press release from the Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD). The driver and two dogs inside the vehicle were able to escape safely before emergency crews arrived.
Officials said the vehicle came to rest in the river after striking a small tree, which prevented it from becoming fully submerged.
