Moses H. Lemite, of Teaneck, was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 8, following a stop conducted by Teaneck Detective Sgt. James Lynch, according to Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel.
Lynch stopped a Jeep Cherokee with Georgia registration after observing several motor vehicle violations, and determined the vehicle’s insurance was invalid, Kriegel said.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 198 checks made out to various individuals totaling $122,439.15, which were believed to be stolen, according to Kriegel. Officers also recovered multiple items appearing to be U.S. Postal Service property, including jackets, sweatshirts, hats, and postal carrier bags.
