Disappointed Artemis II fans complain after not hearing sonic boom during splashdown

Artmeis II has made its return to Earth, successfully splashing down 50 miles offshore from San Diego, California, reentering the upper atmosphere at roughly 25,000 miles per hour, traveling over 30 times the speed of sound.

However, fans were left disappointed when they did not hear a sonic boom in the San Diego area.

X users rushed to the site to see if anyone heard it. One wrote, “I live in San Diego and didn’t hear a sonic boom.” Another added, “Shoot, I was hoping I’d hear a sonic boom. I haven’t heard one since being the a landing of the Colombia space shuttle! I used to hear them all the time when we lived on base.”…
