Chattanooga firefighters respond to East Brainerd house fire, residents assisted by Good Samaritan

Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in East Brainerd on Thursday afternoon after smoke and flames were reported coming from a home in the 900 block of Lindsay Avenue. According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, Red Shift companies were dispatched at 2:44 PM on 4/9/26 following reports of a house fire with possible occupants inside.

Before firefighters arrived on scene, a passing Good Samaritan noticed smoke coming from the residence and stopped to help. The individual assisted a disabled resident out of the burning home and then called 911 to report the emergency. Fire officials credited the quick actions of the Good Samaritan with ensuring that at least one occupant was safely removed prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

When Chattanooga Fire Department units arrived, they found heavy fire conditions originating in the garage of the home. Firefighters quickly confirmed that flames were actively extending from the garage area and beginning to spread into the structure.
