Tech System completes course review, issues new guidance

The Texas Tech University System has completed its review of course content and released new guidance for future curriculum, according to an April 9 memo and letter from Chancellor Brandon Creighton. The process began in September and was expected to conclude earlier in the Spring semester, according to previous statements by the system.

Of the over 14,000 courses offered by the system, 1,403 courses were identified as “potentially related course content”, meaning they might have included content related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and what the system described as “prohibited advocacy concepts”, according to the memo.

According to the review, 299 courses were modified before review, while 688 were determined to be ‘over-reports’ or non-applicable. 324 courses were allowed to keep relevant content under exemptions for licensure and certification, primarily for patient-care careers…
