Salem man arrested after pointing replica gun at Lincoln City work crew, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Salem man was charged after brandishing a replica firearm at a crew of workers on the Oregon Coast, officials alleged.

Omar Cortes-Santiago was arrested on Wednesday, Apr. 8 after authorities received a report of a man pointing a gun at a group of people remodeling a house near NW 14th St. and Highway 101, according to the Lincoln City Police Department.

The agency said multiple officers gathered in the area with marked and unmarked police vehicles minutes later, ultimately detaining Cortes-Santiago. LCPD alleged they were familiar with the 36-year-old man due to his previous arrest over a similar incident in summer 2025.

Officials revealed Cortes-Santiago was not charged for the prior incident because “witnesses refused to cooperate during court proceedings.” In the ensuing investigation for the most recent incident, police said the suspect’s statements contradicted those from “numerous” victims and witnesses…
