Crews working to contain two additional fires in WNC, Forest Service says

NORTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina) – The U.S. Forest Service said fire crews are working to contain two wildfires that were reported in western North Carolina on Saturday.

Cold Springs Fire – Haywood County

The Forest Service said the Cold Springs Fire is estimated to span seven acres.

Officials said the fire is around 15 miles north of Lake Junaluska.

On Sunday, crews will build containment lines closer to the fires’ edge through steep, rocky and thickly vegetated terrain. In other areas, firefighting personnel will focus on extinguishing pockets of heat, the Forest Service said…
