Inside the nuclear weapons research Los Alamos will conduct with University of Michigan

ANN ARBOR, MI – Plans to bring a research center tied to one of the country’s largest nuclear weapons laboratories to southeast Michigan is drawing sharp scrutiny.

The proposed University of Michigan and Los Alamos National Laboratory site would be located in Ypsilanti Township — either near Textile Road east of Bridge Road and south of the Huron River, or at the Willow Run American Center for Mobility. The $1.2 billion “high-performance computing facility” would support nuclear weapons research through advanced computer simulations.
