According to Kershaw County Coroner David West, 911 received a call at around 1:30a.m. reporting a man lying on the side of the road in the 1200 block of Wildwood Lane, near Elgin. Officials say the victim, 29-year-old Brandon James Butler of the Elgin area, was traveling on a moped heading toward Elgin when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene. Butler was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s MAIT along with the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward…
