Gov. Kay Ivey Awards $800,000 in Grants to Strengthen Statewide Drug Enforcement Efforts

Montgomery, AL — Kay Ivey has announced the awarding of $800,000 in grants to support narcotics investigations and drug-related crime enforcement across Alabama.

The funding includes $100,000 allocations to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and each of the state’s seven regional task forces that collectively form the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force. ALEA oversees the statewide initiative, while the regional task forces are composed of officers from various local law enforcement agencies, giving them authority to pursue narcotics cases throughout Alabama.

“The Drug Enforcement Task Force is a great benefit to Alabama’s law enforcement community, allowing local agencies from around the state to coordinate and share resources, all in the name of keeping our communities safe,” Ivey said. “I am pleased to award these funds to support the task force’s mission of apprehending traffickers and taking illegal drugs off the street.”…
