OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The family of a 17-year-old Texas cheerleader has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a distributor of a popular energy drink, saying the teenager died from an enlarged heart caused by ingesting large amounts of caffeine.
Larissa was a senior at Weslaco High School. She was admitted to the University of Texas at Austin and had plans to attend law school. The cheerleader, student council president, and Junior Miss Weslaco died in October.
Her parents filed a lawsuit this week that targets the distributors of popular energy drink Alani Nu. The lawsuit claims that there are inadequate warnings on the cans and the wellness-centered marketing of the beverage led to Larissa’s excessive consumption of the drinks and ultimately, her death…
