The gunmen, described as Black males clad in all-black attire and ski masks, carried firearms including a rifle. They exited a gray Dodge Durango that had pulled up to the scene, fired repeatedly at the shuttered eatery, and fled eastward on Fulton Market.[1] Witnesses initially mistook the getaway car for a Dodge Charger, but Chicago police clarified the model based on preliminary reports.[1]
The victim, originally from Minnesota, had been asleep outside in the vicinity when the gunfire erupted. He awoke amid the shooting and soon discovered his injury. Paramedics transported him to Stroger Hospital, where he remained in good condition.[1] Police documented his account, noting he provided details consistent with observer statements.
