Two celebrations lit up the streets of Ann Arbor this weekend. Students and community members carrying illuminated paper and wire figures participated in a street party Friday evening as part of the 16th annual FoolMoon festival. On Sunday afternoon, the 20th annual FestiFools festival showcased colorful giant puppets in a parade along Main Street.
During FoolMoon, participants hoisted luminaries in the shape of birds and other winged creatures in honor of this year’s theme, “Fools of a Feather.” The event began at three stations located at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Kerrytown Farmers Market and Slauson Middle School. All three groups proceeded to the corner of Ashley Street and Washington Street, where live music from Neutral Zone’s Battle of the Bands and Battle of the Voices winners filled the streets.
