LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thunder Over Louisville is April 18 and navigating streets to get to and from the event can be a little tricky.
Here is a list of bridge and road closures along with traffic flow changes for the event.
Road Closures
Friday, April 17, 10:30am – Sunday, April 19, 2 p.m.
- River Rd. from Bingham Way to 6th St.
- Bingham Way west from (Joes Crab Shack) Witherspoon St. to River Rd.
Friday, April 17, 11am – Sunday, April 19, 9 a.m.
- Witherspoon St. from Preston St. to Brook St.
- Floyd St. & Washington St. north closed *only open to residents
- E. River Rd. from Preston St. to Witherspoon St.
Saturday, April 18, at 8 a.m. – Sunday, April 19, 1 a.m.
- 2nd St. north of Main St.
Saturday, April 18, 9 p.m. – Sunday, April 19, 1 a.m.
Local traffic and pass traffic will be allowed provided there are no pedestrian safety issues.
- River Rd. from Witherspoon St. west to Preston St.
- Frankfort Ave. from River Rd. to Story Ave. *local traffic only
- Witherspoon St. from Brook St. to 2nd St.
- Witherspoon St. from Preston St. to Adams St.
- Washington St. from 1st St. to 2nd St.
- Preston St. from Main St. to Witherspoon St.
- Floyd St. from Main St. to Witherspoon St.
- Brook St. from Main St. to Witherspoon St.
- 1st St. from Main St. to Witherspoon St.
- 2nd St. from Main St. to River Rd.
- 3rd St. from Main St. to River Rd. *access will be allowed to parking garages
Reversed Roads
Saturday, April 18, at 9 p.m. – Sunday, April 19, 1 a.m.
- Market St. from 6th St. to 10th St. will be reversed from eastbound traffic to westbound traffic
- On ramp to I-64 west and east from Roy Wilkins Ave. (9th St.) will be shut down. Ramp will open following the fireworks.
- 3rd St. from Jefferson St. to Broadway will become one-way southbound
Interstate Closures
Saturday, April 18, 8:30 p.m. – approx. 11:30 p.m.
- I-65 northbound from I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to I-64
- I-65 southbound from I-265 (Indiana) to I-64
- I-64 westbound from I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to 22nd St.
- I-64 eastbound from I-264 (Shawnee Expressway) to I-65
- I-64 eastbound ramp to Story Ave.
- I-71 southbound from I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to I-65
- I-71 off ramps to North and South Zorn Ave. *on ramps left open
Interstate Ramp Closures
Friday April 17, 12 a.m. (midnight) – Sunday, April 19, 9 a.m.
- Westbound I-64 to 3rd St. *cannot turn east or west on River Rd.
- 2nd St. to eastbound I-64
