(FOX40.COM) — The family of the 16-year-old boy who died in a tragic shooting at Natomas High School is asking the community to “refrain from spreading false narratives” as they mourn his death.
The victim in the Friday shooting was De’Jon Sledge, according to a news release shared Monday by community advocate Leia Schenk. Sledge, who police said was a student at a nearby school, was shot and killed in an “open area” of Natomas High. Meanwhile, investigators believe the shooter is a current student at the school.
In a statement, Sledge’s mother pushed back against what she described as a flawed picture of her son shared on social media, calling him an “awesome kid.”…
