I have known Rod Sullivan as a member of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors for more than 25 years. In all of that time, he has never shied away from taking on the tough issues of the day: from more fair property taxes to the maintenance of rural roads and bridges, to supporting and uplifting those who can least afford to live in Johnson County. He has fought for higher wages, better housing and improved human relations the entire time.
Rod is running for re-election under a new set of rules put into place by the state Legislature (only in the three counties where state universities are located!?) which means he faces a primary.
As the Executive Director of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity for 13 years, I witnessed him fight for those who live on the margins of our society: the infirmed, the disabled, the poor, and the immigrants.
