Medina locks in electric aggregation rate through June 2028

MEDINA, Ohio – The city’s electric aggregation customers can expect to see a price increase starting in June, but Service Director Nino Piccoli said the new rate will be locked in for two years.

“Our broker was able to secure a price of 9.65 cents per kilowatt hour which isn’t the greatest and is an increase from the current 7.37 cents per kilowatt hour,” Piccoli said. “But there were some factors that led to the price increase. The war believe it or not has an impact on pricing and because of data centers around the country, specifically in Indiana and Central Ohio, the power grid is taxed and it’s just a big draw on the grid. We realize this pricing isn’t the best, but the price has been secured starting in June 2026 through June 2028 so hopefully it will give our residents and small businesses some savings because of that.”
