NACS board approves enrollment changes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Northwest Allen County School Board approved changes for the next school year to address lower-than-anticipated enrollment.

The district is currently about 300 students short of its projections this school year. Officials say the lower numbers are because of vouchers, housing market trends, and the birth rate decline.

To fix the issue, NACS Superintendent Wayne Barker wants to change how the preschool operates, which currently only takes special needs students and doesn’t charge tuition. The school will now accept all students and charge tuition for those additional kids…
