Wildfire leaves mark in Randolph County: ‘Burn ban is still in effect’

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Charred vegetation is what’s left of a 30-acre wildfire in Randolph County.

According to the North Carolina Forest Service, around 9 a.m. on Monday, crews responded to a fire in a wooded area along Tot Hill Farm Road.

Westside Volunteer Fire Department Captain Dylan Lamonds, who assisted in putting out the blaze, shared a cellphone video.

“In the area of Tot Hill Farm. Units got there and had difficulty getting access to where the smoke was coming from,” Lamonds said.

First responders brought FOX8 crews down the gravel trail off Tot Hill Farm Road. More than half a mile into the woods is where the fire ignited.

“We ended up getting back and located a working woods fire and ended up getting ATVs out there and assisting forestry service,” Lamonds said…
