Bedford Fire Department issues town-wide burn ban

BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) – The Bedford Fire Department (BFD) has implemented a town-wide burn ban due to dry conditions, high temperatures and no rain in the forecast.

BFD says this is in addition to the statewide 4:00 p.m. burn law.

WEATHER FORECAST: Unseasonably warm week, minimal rain

The burn ban prohibits any open burning including brush, yard debris, open fires. BFD says this is because current weather conditions allow fires to spread quickly and unpredictably.

BFD Fire Chief says, ““This is a proactive decision to protect lives, property, and our firefighters. We understand it may be inconvenient, but the risk is simply too high right now.”
