TEXAS — Texas A&M University philosophy professor Martin Peterson is leaving at the end of this semester due to what he describes as ongoing censorship.
“Up to 200 courses have been changed in one way or another, and a couple have been canceled. Several professors are leaving the university. Three people have left the philosophy department this academic year. And it’s a small department, about 20 faculty in total,” said Peterson.
The university refutes Peterson’s assertion, saying in a statement, “Faculty recruitment at Texas A&M University continues to progress very well for the upcoming fall semester. The university has seen strong momentum across several academic areas, including Philosophy, Chemistry and English. Department heads and deans report positive engagement with candidates, and recruitment efforts remain ongoing. Texas A&M remains committed to attracting outstanding faculty who advance teaching, research and service in support of the university’s mission.”…
