NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Attention all sushi connoisseurs! A new upscale sushi restaurant is opening its doors in Old Metairie at the end of April.
Owned by Malachi Dupre and Chef Matthew Hyunh, Kenji Kazoku is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in dry-aged fish, sashimi, sushi (both maki and nigiri), grilled octopus and grilled wagyu over charcoal.
The restaurant’s name is a loose Japanese translation that describes “doing business with a tight-knit circle of friends who feel like family.” This name captures the culinary dynamic between Dupre and Hyunh, just a 30 and 32-year-old reimagining the traditional sushi bar format.
