With plenty on the line in a rivalry game between East Carolina and NC State on Tuesday night in a sold out crowd inside Clark-LeClair Stadium, one team showed up, and the other did not.
The Pirates, playing front of their home fans and a sold out crowd of 5,584, were the team that surprisingly put forth a seemingly uninspiring effort. NC State, fueled by an early 5-0 lead after the top of the third inning, looked dominant throughout en route to a relatively easy 10-3 victory over the Pirates in the first of two meetings this year.
ECU dropped its third game in four outings, falling to 22-15-1 on the season. NC State has won seven of eighth, and is now 25-12. The two teams will play again in Raleigh on April 28…
