Cuyahoga County Justice Center to undergo $150 million renovation after county officials, judges reach ‘tentative agreement’

CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County courthouse facilities will be getting a facelift after county leaders agreed on a six-year, $150 million renovation plan, County Executive Chris Ronayne’s office announced Tuesday.

Ronayne, the county council, and Judge Michael P. Shaughnessy — who presides over the county’s court of common pleas — reached a “tentative agreement on a path forward for capital improvements” at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center, Ronayne’s office said.

“Under this tentative agreement, the County will invest $150 million over the next six years to repair and modernize the Justice Center, and likewise establish a guaranteed stream of funds to continue thereafter for ongoing repair and maintenance to the Court’s facilities,” a press release states. “These improvements will enhance safety, accessibility, and functionality for our judicial partners, employees, and those who rely on our justice system every day.”…
