AKRON, Ohio — The city of Akron has agreed to settle a lawsuit stemming from a 2024 traffic stop, in which a man said a police officer used excessive force against him
Officials confirmed Wednesday that a deal had been reached with Terrell Battles, who filed his civil complaint against both the city and Officer Warren Spragg IV more than a year after the incident took place. According to Battles’ attorney, the city agreed to pay $24,000.
“I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through,” Battles said in a statement released by his legal team. “If my case can push the city to take police violence seriously and work to end it, I’ll be glad.”…
