U.S. Marshals arrest man wanted for 2016 Memphis murder in Illinois

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — U.S. Marshals arrested a man wanted in a decade-old Memphis murder on April 14, 2026.

On Friday, officials said Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) agents provided a lead to the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) that Terry Johnson, wanted in the 2016 murder of 18-year-old high school student Ryan Gilliam, had moved to Illinois after the murder.

On Tuesday, U.S. Marshals said they found 36-year-old Johnson and took him into custody in Peoria, Illinois…
