Irondequoit landslide report: ‘Easily erodible soil’ identified

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Monroe County’s Soil & Water Conservation District released its report on a landslide behind some homes in Irondequoit.

The district’s report observed that the soil in the area of AtF3, a type of Arkport soil. They describe the soil as easily erodible and very fine sandy loam in the upper profile and loamy fine sand in the lower subsoils.

Other factors in the erosion that they identified include the land being a steep embankment with erodible soils, streambank erosion along the creek, and the heavy rain last March…
